Full duplex in all band combinations, an 8 RGB color customizable display, 1000+ channels, and twin speaker outputs (L/R separation). Wide/narrow ceramic filters, cross-band repeat, free programming software, and a mounting bracket included, with a large heatsink and quiet fan, and 5 reset modes.

Weaknesses

The microphone audio is reported as 'pinched and tinny' (the mic hole is off-center). No digital modes. No GPS, APRS, or Bluetooth. Mid-range pricing for a dual-band mobile. Alinco has a smaller aftermarket ecosystem than Yaesu/Kenwood/Icom. CHIRP support is not documented. Priority scan requires utility software.

A dual-band mobile with a true dual receiver. The DR-735T's independent L/R controls, twin speaker outputs, and true dual receiver make dual-band operation feel like running two radios rather than a compromise. The 8 RGB color display adds personality, cross-band repeat is on all T models, and free programming software is a bonus. Plan on upgrading the microphone.

The Alinco DR-735T is a dual-band analog FM mobile radio best known for true full-duplex cross-band repeat, the ability to receive on one band while transmitting on the other, which lets it relay a handheld on one band to a repeater on the other. It covers 2 meters and 70 centimeters and requires an FCC Technician-class license or higher to transmit; it is not a GMRS or license-free radio, and it is analog FM only.

A spec worth getting right: it puts out a full 50 watts on both VHF and UHF (not the 50/40 split of the cheaper DR-638T), in three power steps with a freely adjustable mid level. It has a striking customizable RGB display (eight color LEDs), an active cooling fan for sustained operation, 1,000 memory channels, and an optional head-separation kit. It programs with Alinco's own software or RT Systems, not CHIRP.

It remains in production and is well-regarded for its cross-band repeat. The lower-cost Alinco dual-bander (now discontinued) is the DR-638T; a compact budget dual-band mobile is the Retevis RT95.
