Key & Carrier is a static site. The calculators run entirely in your browser. No input data is sent to any server, stored in any database, or shared with any third party.

What we collect

Standard web server logs (IP address, page requested, browser string) are retained by Cloudflare as part of normal CDN operation. We do not add any tracking scripts, analytics pixels, or fingerprinting code beyond what is described below.

This site currently runs no advertising and loads no ad scripts. If advertising is added in the future, this section will be updated to describe the ad provider, any cookies involved, and how to opt out — before any ad code goes live.

Affiliate links

Some equipment pages carry a link to search eBay for that model. These are affiliate links: if you buy something after following one, we may earn a commission from eBay. It costs you nothing extra and it does not change the price you pay.

Every one of these links is labelled as a paid link where it appears, and it goes straight to an eBay search page — we do not redirect you through anything, and we do not fetch, store, or republish eBay listing data. Nothing you do on eBay is reported back to us beyond the aggregate click and sale counts eBay shows in its own partner dashboard.

The links have no bearing on what the site says about a product. Equipment ratings, keying data and safety verdicts are researched from manufacturer documentation and independent sources, and are written before any link is attached. A product does not get a better write-up for being purchasable, and no manufacturer or seller pays for placement or review.

Safety recommendations are never monetized. Where a page recommends a specific piece of safety-critical equipment — for example a keying buffer that protects a modern transceiver from a vintage amplifier's keying voltage — that recommendation is never an affiliate link. It names the maker in plain text or links to them directly, untagged. We do not earn money on advice that exists to keep your equipment from being damaged.

Callsign lookup

When you use the callsign lookup tool, your query is sent to our server-side function, which queries our own copy of the FCC license database. If our database is briefly unavailable, the function falls back to callook.info, a public license-data service — in that case the callsign you searched (and nothing else) is sent to that service.

About the license data itself: the names and addresses shown by the lookup come from the FCC's Universal Licensing System, which is a public record published by the United States government. We republish it unmodified and add nothing to it. If you are a licensee and want a different address shown, the effective way is to update your address with the FCC (ULS license manager, or via your club/VEC) — our copy refreshes from the FCC's data on an ongoing basis, so changes there appear here. We cannot edit individual records: the site would then disagree with the public record it reflects. The callsign you searched is not logged beyond standard Cloudflare request logs. Results are cached at the CDN edge for 24 hours.

No accounts

There are no user accounts, no login, no saved preferences on our end. Your region selection is stored in your browser's localStorage and never transmitted.
