Estimated (unverified): FRS radio - NO license required; ~1.5W (FRS ceiling 2W). '36 channels' = 22 FRS frequencies + 14 code-paired presets; 121 codes. '38-mile range' is marketing (real range under 2 mi typical). Vibrate alert is on the related T75, NOT the T77. Part of the X-Talker line; the T71VP3 is the same radio without the bundle.
A complete outdoor radio kit in a carrying case: two radios, headsets with boom mics, a desktop charger, an AC adapter, a car adapter, micro-USB cables, and a case. eVOX has 9 sensitivity levels, and Rapid Recharge works via the radio's built-in micro-USB. It has NOAA weather, 121 privacy codes, and a 3-year Midland warranty.
2 W FRS only. Fixed antenna. No repeater. No 5 W GMRS channels. No Group Call or Whisper (GXT-series features). It is water resistant but not waterproof. The radio inside is the T71; you are paying for the accessory bundle.
A complete FRS radio kit in a case. The T77VP5 Extreme pack includes two radios, two headsets, multiple chargers, and a carrying case at a modest bundle price. The T71 radio inside is capable FRS with 9-level eVOX, NOAA weather, and Rapid Recharge. For camping trips, group hikes, and outdoor events, it is the most complete ready-to-use kit Midland sells.
The Midland T77VP5 is the top of Midland's X-Talker line of license-free FRS radios, sold as an "Extreme Dual Pack" with a generous accessory bundle: headsets, a carry case, a desktop charger, and a vehicle adapter. Because it is FRS, no license is required; it is aimed at outdoor and overland users who want a complete, ready-to-go pair of consumer radios.
It offers the X-Talker line's full feature set: 36 channels (the 22 FRS frequencies plus 14 code-paired presets), 121 privacy codes, NOAA weather with alerts, a 9-level eVOX hands-free mode, channel scan, and a rapid-charging micro-USB battery. One spec to correct: the vibrating-alert feature belongs to the related T75, not the T77. Midland advertises a "38-mile range," which, like all such figures, is a line-of-sight ideal; real range is a fraction of a mile to a couple of miles.
It transmits at about 1.5 watts, the FRS practical maximum, and runs on rechargeable NiMH packs with three AA alkalines as backup. The plainer X-Talker T71VP3 is essentially the same radio without the accessory bundle, and the simpler LXT600 sits below it in Midland's FRS range.
